On Sunday, January 29th, BYU quarterback Riley Nelson was the featured speaker at a Heritage Evening Devotional. Riley fielded questions from the students and was able to tell them of some of the struggles he has overcome to be able to be a successful Division 1 Athlete. Riley mentioned the ABC's of life that have meant so much to him.
They are:
Attitude
Belief
Courage
One story in particular really got everyone's attention. He told how in his sophomore year of high school he broke his femur in a skiing accident. He remembers screaming in pain and landing with his leg up over his head-- as if it was an arm, raised in the air. This took him out of football and he went from 170 pounds to 124 pounds. After 8 months recovering and through hard work and dedication, Riley came back to play his junior year. Riley credits his success to maintaining a positive attitude, believing in himself, and having the courage to not give up no matter how difficult the task.
