General Services has been a beehive of activity over the past several months. With Thanksgiving, the Christmas play, and Christmas itself we have been going non-stop. Now that we have all the students back from the holidays, we can try to get back to the normal daily routine. My father passed away on Dec. 14 in the midst of all the activities so it was an especially difficult trying to deal with everything going on. However with support from staff and friends it was a great holiday season and one filled with tender experiences.
As we being a new year, it has been a time to reflect on people and events that have influenced us over the past year. Every day there are opportunities to help the students and their families work through challenges. I have found that as we are involved in changing the lives of others, our lives are also changed. Our department sometimes is so focused on “getting things done” we forget to enjoy the journey. Our goal this year is to make a greater effort to enjoy the journey and whatever each day brings.
